Instructional Technologies, Inc., was founded in 1994 as Illusion Technologies International, a joint effort of several companies who had worked for NASA with expertise in training and simulation. Our first products were high-fidelity driving simulators to train decision-making to novice car drivers.

ITI teamed with Lockheed Martin Information Systems (LMIS) of Orlando, Florida, in 1997 to further develop complementary programs in advanced simulation training. At LMIS's request, ITI shifted its focus to computer-based training (CBT), both independent of and partnered with simulator systems. The team of LMIS and ITI bid and won an Internationally-competed contract from the government of Singapore to create the world's largest truck driver training facility, consisting today of sixteen LMIS full-motion simulators and ninety-eight ITI CBT stations.

In January 2000, ITI changed its name to Instructional Technologies, Inc., brought on additional management and personnel, and entered the US trucking market with its landmark TREAD-1 driver training system. In 2004, as the Internet finally provided adequate bandwidth, ITI partnered with Ryder Systems to develop TREAD-1's Internet brother, Pro-TREAD, which allows drivers to train virtually anywhere and anytime. By late 2007, ITI introduced Pro-TREAD In-Cab, providing Pro-TREAD right in the driver's cab. TREAD-1 was phased out during 2008, as the Internet had become ubiquitous.

Because ITI's exceptional training and bullet-proof documentation also serve a fleet as powerful Risk Management, insurance underwriters and brokerages have endorsed and promoted ITI's TREAD programs and have been instrumental in ITI's consistent growth in the industry.

With our roots in high-fidelity NASA and military simulation, the TREAD programs train more effectively and efficiently than the usual offerings of online learning. That, combined with ITI's commitment to providing extraordinary and individualized service to all our clients, from large to small, has resulted in ITI's standing alone at the top of the truck driver training market.
